Title : Brachial Plexus (Parody of "Payphone" by Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa)
Description : Selame Scarlett (MSUCOM '16): Vocals, Beatbox
Peter Liu (MSUCOM '15): Piano, Rap

Brachial-Plexus themed parody of "Payphone" by Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa.

Selame and I wrote this because we wanted to give our classmates at MSUCOM a more entertaining way of learning about the Brachial Plexus for anatomy class. Also, we've been wanting to work together on something for over a year now, so it was great to finally get the chance to do this song!

We hope you all enjoy it AND learn a little something about that bundle of nerves that innervates your upper limb!

Lyrics:
Brachial Plexus, from roots to branches
has trunks, then divisions, and cords in between.
Where do you come from to innervate the arm,
give sense to the fingers, and muscles unseen?

Yeah, I, I know it's hard to remember
that 5 roots merge into 3
trunks that split front and back for
divisions 6 totally.

The 6 make 3 cords, I know this,
but that's not all; we're not done
after cords come the branches:

Musculocutaneous
from Cord Lateral,
which with Medial
forms the Median
Ulnar ends the M.
Axillary nerve
from Posterior,
then last Radial.

Brachial Plexus, from roots to branches
has trunks, then divisions, and cords in between.
Where do you come from to innervate the arm,
give sense to the fingers, and muscles unseen?

If this bundle of nerves did not exist,
I could not be holding you like this.
All those other plexuses are s***.
One more f'n palsy, I'll be sick.

Oh, there's nine nonterminal branches
that you must know for today.
The preaxial group flexes
and postaxial's away.

The cords surrounds the big vessel
and it's called Axillary.
I know I've said it before,

But Musculocutaneous
from Cord Lateral,
which with Medial
forms the Median
Ulnar ends the M.
Axillary nerve
from Posterior,
then last Radial.

Brachial Plexus, from roots to branches
has trunks, then divisions, and cords in between.
Where do you come from to innervate the arm,
give sense to the fingers, and muscles unseen?

If this bundle of nerves did not exist,
I could not be holding you like this.
All those other plexuses are s***.
One more f'n palsy, I'll be sick.
The Brachial Plexus.

Man, Hilton's Law:
Nerve that goes running through a joint and
innervating it will supply
the muscles 'round it providing the action.
Largest from the plexus
is the nerve called Radial, aiight?
Knocks all out but my Triceps on a Saturday night.

Baby born with Palsy Erb-Duchenne
or whatever you call it.
Stretched the trunk superior
and middle, could have fallen.
There ain't no sense in the shoulder,
can't move it, appallin'.

Ouch! What a shame, now you're without
reasons, no one to blame but you fouled your Ulnar.
You can't flex the MCP's of five and four
then your hand's like a claw
s***'s true, so you look like a fool.
Lower motor lesions, dey ain't cool.
Surgery can't really treat 'em;
life can be cruel.
Now I'm done with the rap,
so you can go and take
this little bit of song with you.
